Principal's Bio

Principal

Family: I'm a blessed man. I have been married to Kathy for 27 years and I could not ask for a better partner in life.

I have three beautiful daughters. Alix is 22 and was a graduate of SCHS. Alix graduated from MTSU in 2017.  Arin is 20 and attends Middle Tennessee University and will graduate in 2018. Andi is 16 and attends Shelbyville Central High School.

We have a 12 year old Chihuahua (Lulu) and a two year old Shih Tzu ( Bubba).

Hobbies: I enjoy reading anything about American History. I enjoy playing frisbee golf and I attempt to stay healthy and work out at least 3 times a week.

I'm a big sports fan. I'm a fan of the  Tennessee Titans and was a eyewitness to the "Music City Miracle". My biggest sports dream is to see the Titans win the Superbowl!

I grew up listening to John Ward, "The Voice of the Vols", so I will always be a Tennessee Volunteer fan. Go Vols!

I'm a MTSU graduate and cheer for the Blue Raiders!

Education:  Bachelor's of Art Degree from MTSU. I majored in History and my minors were in Political Science and Secondary Education.

I received my Masters of Education Degree from Trevecca University.

I began my educational career teaching 8th grade U.S. History at Harris Middle School. I was in the classroom for almost 5 years and then became assistant principal at Harris and remained in that position for 2 years.

In 2006, I became principal of Liberty School, a K-8 school. Liberty was an wonderful experience for me and I will always be grateful to the faculty and staff for breaking in a "new" principal and making me feel at home.

In 2009, I was appointed principal of Thomas Magnet School. I, with a team effort of teachers, the community, and parents, had the honor of starting a new program for high achieving students and it was awesome! The faculty and staff at TMS shared a common vision and always went above and beyond in providing a positive and enriching environment for the students. The hard work of the students, faculty and staff, produced results in the first three years by being recognized as a State Focus Rewards School, a Title I Distinguished School, and was selected for a National Blue Ribbon Award, the highest award given a school by the U.S. Department of Education.

In 2012, I was appointed principal of Cascade High School. I was honored to be principal at Cascade for five years and be part of the CHAMPION tradition of academic excellence and family atmosphere.

In 2017, I was appointed principal of Shelbyville Central High School. I'm looking forward to being a part of the SCHS family and helping provide an enriching and sound  education to all of  our students.
